The Fathers for Fitness foundation was created to inspire children and adults to lead a physically active life by participating in sports activities and recreation daily.

By training together and building a network of like minded men and women, we are looking to set high goals and achieve milestones never imagined for children and adults of our community to combat the obesity epidemic.

We have developed a proprietary principle for training that will not only result in being able to complete a marathon, you will also experience consistent weight loss, reduced stress and overall greater contentment. This change in your lifestyle will inspire those around you, especially your family, children and friends. We believe that once you embrace the SEE-Results Principle you will want to include fitness as an integral part of your life. Doing this prevents obesity and all the medical problems associated with it. Our hope is that as you become fit you will become a role model to those around you, and that through these efforts obesity is reduced in our schools and our communities.

This website will be your guide to achieving your goals. We have information on obesity, training schedules, as well as food and nutritional information to support you.

First Annual Turkey Trot

Walk the trails of Olivenhain with us

Turkey Trot 09

On Thursday November 26th, 2009 64 men, women and children gathered in the crisp cool air of another glorious day in San Diego to participate in the first annual Fathers for Fitness Turkey Trot. The chill in the air did nothing to dampen the spirits of the walkers gathered to get a little exercise before sitting down with family and friends to traditional Thanksgiving meals. As the sun rose and warmed the 3-miles of horse trails the walkers became anxious to get going. Before venturing out, our founder, Robby Boyd, had to share a few words. Robby spoke of the things we are grateful for: the many friends we saw, the large turnout of children, the support from Panera Bread and Albertson’s La Costa and the beautiful day it was shaping up to be. Robby also instructed everyone to walk, have fun and meet someone new. Once a football player, always a football player: by this token we all put our hands in for a “Grateful” cheer, then we were off.

Huffing and puffing up our first hill (lovingly known as Coyote Hill), we realized that even the kids were not going to complain about the walk or the distance this morning. (As a matter of fact, I had no idea where my own children were!). They were having too much fun with their friends. As we crossed over a neighborhood road and followed the trial past a large lemon grove, many conversations with complete strangers and friends not seen in a long time began. These conversations continued for the duration of the scenic walk. Only after returning to the Boyd garage, was the chatter silenced by the smell of fresh coffee, fruit, OJ and bagels.

This delicious continental breakfast could not have been made possible without the support of Panera Bread (best bread/bagels in the country!), Albertson’s (water), the Lack Family (OJ), the O’Hara Family (enough fruit to feed an army), the Davis Family (more yummy fruit), the Healy Family (sweet tangerines), the Schafer Family (pumpkin muffins…where did they disappear to so fast?) and the delicious donut holes care of Grandma Barb!

Thank you to all who participated, invited friends and family (Robin!), and all who tried to come but couldn’t. We are onto something fun & healthy here, and are already planning our next walk, the Resolution Walk, scheduled for January 1st, 2010.
